Spring is here, and it is all about the track trouser pant for me. I am all about mixing athleisure trends with unexpected pieces, and this season the track pant has become even more elevated. You are seeing this trend for nights out, and to make it even cooler, pairing it with a crop top and a denim jacket makes it funky and unique. I received this Wrangler jacket this past fall, and I love that it is two tone and cropped. It is the perfect length to go with these high-waisted trousers.
Whether you leave it open or closed, you can pair this piece with a pretty skirt, dress, or even make into a cool denim on denim look. I picked up this bandeau top at a flee market a few years back, but any fun crop that you can find from Topshop to Nordstrom will work!
Not only are these pants dressy, they are fun and loud. They can go with a blouse as well, and definitely a killer heel will make them great for a stand out date night. I wore them with my favorite CK slides from DSW, another big trend. These slides are perfect for after yoga or for a day out.
Some of my other favorite athleisure trends are below, and remember play them up for a night out, and keep them simple for the day!
It is that time of the year again for picnics in the park. What I love about New York City is that there are several amazing places to meet friends for a day of hanging out, playing games, and eating good food. Besides that, summer concerts and events are in full swing. Every Thursday in Central Park, they have a fantastic concert, and people gather to listen to music and just hang out with friends.
One trend that hasn’t gone away is paring a simple one-piece swimsuit or bodysuit with a pair of jeans. This look is great for a day in the park, as you definitely can throw a little jacket over it if the weather gets a bit chilly, or you certainly can get a great tan as well! I love the detail in both the denim from Zara and the bathing suit from Billabong. Not only that, both pieces are under $100.00 so they are an easy and affordable trendy look.
It is all about the back and the behind this summer. Denim has risen, and the high-waisted jeans are fantastic for showing your backside. Not only that, a simple bodysuit or swim like the one above is not only sexy, but it really doesn’t show too much off when paired with denim like this. I suggest making sure that you have the right bra to go with this, which can easily be found at Nordstrom.
I am changing up my normal choker this season for a fun bolo style necklace. This one from Chan Luu is pretty dang cool. It definitely stands on its own and was the perfect added piece to this hipster looking outfit. I paired it with a simple t-shirt and maxi skirt the other day and it couldn’t have looked cooler. When it comes to accessories this season, try something new that you have yet to discover.
Embellished jeans, especially in a distressed look, are still going strong and can be found at almost every store. This pair from Zara are perfect for me. They are high- waisted with a little bit of a boyfriend cut to them. The floral embroidery is not too overwhelming but done in a way that they look expensive. This is obviously fantastic because they are under $100!
Dirty Laundry from Chinese Laundry always has cheap and fun shoes. These natural espadrilles are perfect for a summer day. They can slip on easily, be taken off in the grass, and are super comfortable. Not only that you can wear them on their own to the beach in a bathing suit or pair them with a cute summer dress for brunch!
Well, it is already the middle of March, and the NCAA men’s college basketball tourney has begun. I grew up watching my father coach UNLV in three final four tournaments. The memory of winning the National Championship in 1990 makes me nostalgic every year when this time comes around. The athletes and coaches pour their heart and souls into every game, and the excitement of it all never gets old. This year, I will get the opportunity to see the Sweet 16 here in New York City, and this Game day style is casual and works for every fan. If your team is in the hunt, make sure to sport your team colors along the way!
The track jacket is back, and there are no shortage of great ones to be found from many retailers. I love this one from H&M because it is simple and comes in a few different colors. I will mix it up with tees during the games, and it will look fun at night with an edgy leather skirt in the summer.
Athleisure is huge right now, and many stores like Topshop are doing fun throw back vintage tees from different college and pro teams. Since I am not really routing for any team in particular, this fun Wildcats shirt screams team spirit with a cool girl edge.
Now to the jeans. If you are following trends, frayed and patchwork boyfriend denim is all the rage. Try a fun style that suits your body type. This pair from Zara have a wide leg and sit at the hip, which is perfect for my frame. If you are a bit shorter or curvy, try a higher-waisted pair that come to the ankle with a straighter leg.
One way to show your rah rah style, is with a pop of gold! Thanks to H&M this handbag not only adds a fun touch, but it is under $50. I paired it with a simple watch from H&M as well and stacked on some rings from Topshop to make the look my own.
Last, lets not forget about the shoes Stan Smith! I love the comeback that Adidas is having right now. This throwback sneaker was one of my first pairs back in the day, and now they are back on trend. I love that you can get them in plain white, or find a pair with the small bit of color at the heel.
Cheers to MARCH MADNESS AND GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON THEIR BRACKETS! Check out mine below, who knows how it will shape up, but it sure is fun to do one with friends. You can sign up right at www.espn.com.
It is here! The new Like to Know it App has launched through the apple store to make shopping that much easier for you. Being a part of this amazing new technology could not be more fun. Their new motto “it all started with a screenshot” says it all. Just download the app to your phone, and simply snap a screenshot of my look across Instagram, Pinterest, or Snapchat. Then you can shop my entire look right there on the spot. I mean could shopping get any easier then this?
This launch deserves a happy dance, and these pants from Zara are right on the money for it. How fun and unique are these black pants? This season try something different than your normal trouser and go for something more wild and carefree. Ruffles, lace, and frills are all the rage, so make sure to find a pair that suits your style.
Bell sleeve and lace up blouses are still trending big for spring and summer, and this cream piece from Lulus’s felt perfect for these pants. My first thought was to go simple on the top, but I wanted to get outside of my comfort level and mix and match the whole look in an unexpected way. I will for sure by wearing this top with my denim skirt when the weather heats up a bit. Not to mention, pick up a trendy and inexpensive timepiece like this one from Urban Outfitters.
When it comes to accessories, I love to wear a bold earring from time to time. Right now, eclectic and big earrings are trending hard, and these will make a statement. I usually keep to small posts, so it is fun to add another element to the look. Also, it streamlines the entire outfit, and they are also available at Urban Outfitters for under $25.00!
Okay, can we cheer anymore for these pom pom sneakers from Steve Madden? I love that the flatform sneaker is going strong again, and this is a fun way to show your spirit by adding a little flair. Not only are they kind of wild, but they add a hip factor to any outfit you are wearing.
Wow, I can’t believe that this is the final stretch of holiday madness. Not only have I yet to finish my shopping, my entire extended family is here in Las Vegas. Part of our tradition is to bake homemade Croatian nut bread, attend a UNLV basketball game, and head to our favorite family run Italian restaurant. On top of that, we also host an annual Christmas Eve party, so it is basically a week of craziness.
When I saw this Sundry sweater from Hiptique, I knew I had to have it. Not only is it soft and comfy, it is definitely getting me through this week. Their sweaters, also found at Nordstrom are always among my favorite. I will mix it up with my boyfriend jeans and some sneakers in the next few weeks.
Also, when I travel, I seem to lose my sunglasses all over the place. One of my favorite finds over the years is the B.P. line from Nordstrom. They always have several shapes, and if you can believe they are only $12.00. How cute are these cat eye frames.
Lately, I have also been crushing on white handbags. I found this one at Zara, and again, it was under $50.00. I love to invest in one or two a year, and then for more trendy pieces I usually try and find ones that will not break the bank.
Hello pants! Elizabeth and James is one of my favorite clothing lines, and their attention to detail is what always causes me to purchase pieces. These may be one of my favorite finds this season from Neiman Marcus. The ruffle detailing on the top is so fun, and they will be just as great in the Spring with a white tank and sandals.
Also when running around all week, if I am not in my sneakers, then I certainly will be wearing my favorite comfortable booties from Sam Edelman. They make this boot every season, and once they are worn in you can wear them for days on end. Just saying, we all need a pair like this while rushing around in the holiday madness!
