Well, this fall has been insanely busy. I feel like I am juggling so many different plates, which is exciting and exhausting at the same time. So many fun projects are in the works, hopefully I can share them with you in the next month or two! One of the things that I love about California weather is that a simple lightweight sweater and cool jeans are usually about all you need this time of year.
For me, staying on time is imperative when you are busy. I was so excited to team up with Daniel Wellington, who make such pretty timepieces. This Classic Petite Ashfield is both dressy and sporty, so I can wear it with everything. If you head to www.danielwellington.com and enter SUZIG at checkout you will get 15% off!
So I am obsessed with all things fun and embellished right now. When I saw these “bee” sneaks from Steve Madden I knew I had to have them, I mean they are just so fun. Nothing reminds me to keep the pep in my step than these shoes, that is for sure.
I am always on the hunt for different types of sweaters that can be dressed up or down for a day on set, or a night out on the town. I love the bell sleeves of this Topshop sweater, because it is super on trend. I’ll wear it with my black leather skirt at night to dress it up.
I am still on a high waisted denim kick for fall, these jeans from Good American are more comfy than any I have worn in awhile. I love the idea of distressed ripped jean mixed with a cool sweater like this. Again, these can easily be rocked at night with a cool pump.
One of my favorite things about being in NYC is the fact that I get to really wear all of my favorite coats. About seven years ago, I purchased this faux fur coat from a vintage store in Los Angeles, and now I finally get to wear it all the time. Vintage shopping has always been something that I enjoy doing, and there are some many cool spots here in the city to check out. Just yesterday I stumbled on One Piece Designs where the owner is reworking all kinds of vintage sports tees. How cool is this Nike Air sweatshirt?
A faux fur coat seems to lend to a nice boot, but for me, I like to mix it up with a cool sneaker. New Balance has come out with a fun exclusive line with J.Crew, and the pop of gold in the shoe makes them feel a bit more luxurious. Not only that I can walk all around the city in them.
Since it is cold outside, I love to layer with a great chunky cable knit sweater. This one from Rag and Bone is not only comfortable but super on point trend wise. I love the cream color, as you can simply pair it with some jeans like these from Citizens of Humanity, or go for a full winter look and pair it with white jeans.
Going back to vintage, I also scored big at Decades located in Los Angeles. They always carry a huge selection of pieces, and I was lucky enough to find this quilted Chanel handbag on one of my shopping adventures. I don’t splurge more then once a year on a new bag, and this has been one of my favorite collectors items.
The great thing, is there are lots of bags that are under $100 that look very similar. Go ahead and shop the look below!
Happy New Years everyone! I literally have become obsessed with all things sneakers, and the past 12 months were pretty solid. It certainly wasn’t easy to pick my favorite ones of the year, but I have a list of those that knocked my socks off!
Next year, I expect more amazing collaborations to be coming out, and I will definitely be showing them off through the blog for you. Sit back and enjoy, and don’t forget to run out and buy a couple pairs of these kicks!
But first, lets not forget about the Nike Mag and the future of tennis shoes. It took Nike 27 years to finally make a real, auto-lacing Nike Mag and they were only able to create 100 pairs. The majority of them were given away in a raffle, with the rest being auctioned. There were more than a few folks who were willing to break the bank to get the sneaker of their dreams.
We all know that I am obsessed with all things Sneakers. To say that I read and watch for release dates, hunt down old releases, and wait for what is to come is an understatement. There is something fun about mixing a fancy dress or high fashion look with a cool sneaker. Athleisure has become a part of our culture and on the streets there are no shortage of cool kicks on women.
One of my favorites, the Nike Air Force 1, has made a sudden re-emergence in the past couple of weeks. Few shoes have as deep a history as this one. The new Nike SF-AF1 is a hybrid between the Air Force 1 and a Special Field Boot. This shoe sold out and now has a resale value of around $500. Not only did they release this, but during Art Basel the “Linen” Air Force 1, tan sneaker with a pink outsole made a comeback. This is a Japanese exclusive that released in 2001.
The Air Force 1 is back, but for many sneaker lovers it never went away. Once again Nike has breathed new life and creativity into it. Their current collection for women is pretty amazing, and you can shop my favorites below. My current obsession is obviously the Nike Air Force 1 07 Premium Essential in maroon.
We have all seen the evolution of the sneaker. Not only do I love my new Nike Huarache’s above for running, but I also live in them in my daily life. As a stylist, I am on set or shopping several days a week, and sneakers are the most comfortable for a long day.
Every season I try to purchase a fun pair of limited edition or basketball kicks, as well as a cool pair that transition from a workout to my daily life. Think outside of the box and throw on a pair not only with skinny jeans a chunky sweater, but try a long maxi skirt and a denim jacket to mix it up.
