Okay so the weekend is here, and I cannot believe that summer is almost over. Of course I have blown through about five pairs of shades. My problem is that I tend to throw them around, lose them while biking or boating, or just leave them in a hotel room while I am traveling. So needless to say, I am here to give you a run down of my favorite pairs for under $50 today.
Besides that, this summer has been full of new kicks that I am wearing a lot. When it comes to that, lets just say, keeping them clean is definitely not easy. So when I came across Sneaker Lab I was in heaven. Their products make keeping sneakers clean super easy.
I have been living in my favorite white Nike Air Huarache’s, and these Sk8 Hi red Vans. What I love about Sneaker Lab, is their products refresh and restore sneakers with little environmental impact. My favorite products are the sneaker wipes and the premium kit. I tend to not wear socks so the odor protector is a total go to in the summer, and nothing is as easy as keeping the soles white then the wipes.
When it comes to summer shades, the aviator is always my go to. My favorite pair ever is from Nordstrom. They are a dark shade of black and they are only $14.00. The brass plum section of the store always has fun and easy shades that are all less then $25.00. Now for me that is a score since I cannot seem to keep a pair for longer then a few weeks without losing them.
Every summer in Las Vegas, the NBA puts on a display like you have never seen. What started over a decade ago by Warren Legaire, with the help of my father who is a seasoned NBA coach, has turned into the must be place of the summer. Young players and rookies come out to play with their respected NBA teams and it is a place to watch all of the amazing young talent. This year was a whole different level for me, as I had several meetings during the week, for both design and social media.
Celtics and Lakers Matchup
On day one, the entire Thomas and Mack arena was sold out, and people were waiting outside to get in. The first matchup between the Celitcs and the Lakers was crazy. If you are watching hoops, you know that Lonzo Ball, who was drafted by the Lakers, is a person to watch, and the fans came out screaming.
Not only that, it is a place for every agent, coach, owner, and front office to come together once a year to watch and scout talent. It is so fun, as 25 years with my dad coaching in the league, I know so many people and love chatting about who are the people and teams to watch. Here is pictured above showing plays to young coaches during one of the Milwuakee Bucks practices.
Also, it has hit the media hard. Both NBA TV and TNT broadcasters are out interviewing. NBA TV now broadcasts all of summer league on television as well as ESPN. The crew from The Starters did a great live set each day interviewing players.
Besides young players, pretty much every major NBA player shows up sometime during the week. Two of my favorite sightings were John Wall and of course Lebron James. Being in Vegas, it is the perfect place to come out, go out at night, and have a little fun while watching hoops.
I am not going to lie, I have always been a fan of a great vintage rock tee. I casually live in them all summer long because they are easy and fun. Mixing and matching them for day to night is super easy. I have been obsessed with Madeworn, an L.A. based line that has been killing the game. Their pieces all feel worn in, and I will be rocking this Blondie tee with my denim shorts in the day, and then with cool pants at night.
OBSESSED with these high-waisted pants from DVF. I had a pair several years ago that I wore into the ground, and the moment I spied these at Saks Fifth Avenue, they were in my shopping bag. What I love about a high-waisted pant, especially in the summer is that you can really show off your waist by tucking tanks and tees into them. The color of these is amazing, so different then most you will find, and also adds a vintage feel to them. The material is easy and breezy, so they will be perfect for summer nights.
Two of my favorite accessory designers are Rebecca Minkoff and Kendra Scott, both available at Nordstrom. I love a big and bold cuff in the summer, and this one from Kendra Scott is available in gold, silver, and rose gold. So it pretty much goes with any and everything. What makes it a good investment piece, is can be edgy with a look like this, or timeless for a more dressy affair.
The must have summer color. I don’t even know how to describe the color of these adidas Gazelles. They are almost like a smoky grey, and let me say they go with everything. I own so many all white and colorful ones, that these are a bit different then the usual. Make sure to pick up any of the Gazelle’s this summer, as they are on a big comeback tour!
Well Spring has hit, and there is no shortage of sneakers that I have my eye after. Last week, I think I shot five different pairs that will all be on my rotation these next few months. As you know I love the men’s pairs, and this baby pink Nike Jordan is divine. I also just got the newest James Harden for adidas sneakers, and the olive green color is perfect for all of my wardrobe right now.
Speaking of working out, Nike has so many fun running sneakers right now, and I have been craving a fun color! This purple pair are perfect for running on the treadmill, or taking a class at Equinox.
Now that the weather is back to be warmer, I am also living in my adidas gazelles and slides. The slides are so comfortable, and I love wearing them around the city to walk in. Also, you can never go wrong with an old skool pair of gazelles, the black and white are my favorite, but if I must, the red are on my mind too.
One of my favorite things about fashion right now, is the layering effect. I have been rocking dresses layered with tees underneath to get the 90’s vibe back. Fun rocker plaids are totally back in fashion for the spring, and a fun new line I stumbled across is Public School.
Their designs are fun, youthful, and all have a bit of edge to them. This plaid dress can be worn in so many ways, and is one of those that you can travel with easily. Think a denim jacket for the night with some cool booties.
Right now, I am totally obsessed with the adidas Superstar sneaker. They have made a comeback and you are seeing all kinds of unique twists to them. The gold toe of this pair has an edgy feel, and totally goes with the fun plaid dress from Public School. I love mixing the two together to really give the look some cool girl vibes. They certainly will look just as hip with dark jeans and a tee. For day, I love just a simple sneaker mixed with my go to dresses.
We all know that I have certainly been into the choker vibes lately, but I also am such a fan of a skull necklace. It is always something that you can add to any look to give it an edgy vibe. This was perfect with the plaid dress, and I simply added a few of my favorite stacker rings to round out the look!
