A few years ago, while working on a cover for Verily Magazine, I was introduced to the amazingly talented photographer Trever Hoehne. Since our first meeting, we have created and collaborated on lots of different projects, and my most favorite work always comes from the eye of his camera. Find out a little more about Trever below, and head over to his website to see more of his beautiful photography.
When did you become interested in photography, was it something that you realized at an early age?
I never thought I would be in the photography space. I studied painting in school so it wasn’t until after college that I picked up a camera. I still like to approach the whole thing like a painter and not a photographer.
You are based in Los Angeles, but travel quite frequently, tell me about some of your favorite travel experiences while shooting.
Most of my travels are to New York and Paris. I’m grateful to be able to work in some very special places around the world. Paris is my favorite place on earth… So I love working there.
Who has been the most interesting person that you have shot and why?
This is a hard one… Most people strike me as interesting. Out of everyone, the most challenging person I’ve shot is my art mentor. I know him well so that is always challenging to capture it well.
You do both editorial and lifestyle, tell me how that differs from a photography perspective.
Yeah my work lives mostly in advertisements and editorials. They are both fun but editorials have a lot more room to be creative and spontaneous. My advertisement work is more planned and strategic… Rightfully so. I can break more rules when shooting editorials 🙂
What fun projects are you working on now?
That’s hard to answer because I’m very excited about all my assignments coming up. I love fashion editorials and I’m very happy to be working on a lot of fun projects coming up. Sorry for the “secretiveness” 🙂
