It is all about being comfy and cool when the weather is hot out. I tend to still live in my sneakers during the summer, and although I love a good dress, some cool track pants are always on my list. In moving back to LA for the summer, the weather tends to be a bit more mild, so it is easier to wear pants in throughout the day into the night. For the day, pairing them with a simple vintage tee and sneakers works, and at night because these dope pants are silk, I can put on a cool heel, and a blouse to dress it up!
I have long been a fan of Milly, and these silk track pants from Saks Fifth Avenue are so cool. They fall right into the hip athleisure category for me. The white seems perfect for the summer, and I love the Americana vibe the panel has down the side of the let. These certainly can be worn in so many ways, and that is what makes this trend so fun.
I simply paired the pants with a cool vintage tee from Barney’s New York. This Re Done line reworks tees and denim like you have never seen. For me, the optimal way of wearing these pants is with something like this. For the night, you can pair it with a blouse to make the look fresh and polished. As for this tee, I will be also rocking it with my denim shorts.
If you haven’t been paying attention, the Nike Cortez is back! This black and white pair are my favorite, but they come in a variety of fun colors. You can even head over to Nike and design your own in their ID program. I love that these will be a great cross over shoe from summer to fall.
From old skool kicks to fun new finds, this past month I found myself rocking a little of both. This past year, I partnered up with Happy Socks, and let me tell you they will make your feet dance. They have such a fun assortment of socks and underwear that are not only cozy but make a statement when you wear them. I love the retro polka dot feel of the spring collection below, and so I found it fitting to break out my favorite checkered Vans for summer. This skate shoe has been around forever, and is still one of my favorites.
Speaking of throwing it back, the Vans Sk8 hi-low sneaker in all white is also a favorite of mine. They are affordable, cool, and definitely make my look a little more cool. Adidas has also made such a fun comeback with their “originals” this past year, and I haven’t met a color I didn’t like! This taupe gazelle is off the chart. It is the absolute perfect color to go with everything in my wardrobe.
When it comes to new snekaers that have been dropped, the technology continues to grow for sneaker companies, and they are making it harder and harder to chose a pair! I found this new adidas Tubular in pink. They are blending the past with the future by redefining sportswear for the street, taking inspiration from an iconic 93 runner. The Nike City Knife 3 Flyknit Sneaker, actually is a foldable and packable sneaker, and let me tell you for traveling it speaks to me. The colors are so fly as well, I feel like super girl when I wear these.
A little bit of fun design plus all white sneakers were just another added bonus. These new Nike Air Huarache SE remind me of wearing denim on denim. They are trendy and fun, and litearally are also so comfortable. For me, when it comes to brunching, I love mixing a fun long skirt with a preppy pair of white sneakers. These Tretorn for J.Crew do just that. I also will pair them with all my fun Fourth of July looks coming up.

I cannot believe that it has been a year since a small passion project of mine has grown into a much bigger idea. While sitting at NBA summer league last July, I began to see an area of women’s design in athletic wear that had yet to be part of the market. Thus began some fun new creative ideas that are now turning into lots of cool things. For the past few years, I had only been styling, and had really let some of my creative love for design go, and with some big changes last year, I was able to tap back into them.
If you know much about Portland, this time of year is gorgeous, and most of my meetings are in the athletic and street wear side of things, so there is no need to be dressy. I fell in love with this cool denim jacket from The Rails, because star designs are one of my favorites. Not only that, it feels lucky and will be perfect all summer long. Also, I have never met a fun statement tee or a camo print that I do not like, so I grabbed this cute Boyfriends Current Elliott tee the moment I saw it. It adds a fun edge to the look.
AG denim have long been one of my favorites. I can wear them on the plane, as they are super comfy, and this pair is the perfect shade of grey. I love that I can wear jeans to the meeting, and the high-waist and selvage bottoms are totally on trend.
Because I am only here for a couple of days, I tend to pack light. The look is great for meetings with the denim jacket on, and perfect to stroll the streets when t he sun is out wrapping the jacket around my waist. I am long a fan of denim on denim, and again, the tee is cute and fun for a day of shopping and sight seeing.
Of course I am traveling with a few sneakers, but one of my favorite combos is green and pink. These fun adidas sneakers are not only super comfy for travel, I can wear them to meetings, and run in them. They go perfectly with this look to pitch ideas in!
Cheers to lots of fun things to come! I cannot wait to be able to tell you all more!!!
One of my favorite combinations living in Cali was pairing a great sweater with some cool jean shorts. The weather always tends to drop in the evening, and so keeping lightweight sweaters out year round is a must. Here in NYC for the next couple of months I will be traveling to places where temps drop in the evening. So this is a look I will keep here on the East Coast as well. I tend to live in my denim shorts all summer, and so picking up a few new sweaters, like this one from Vince is perfect.
Usually in the summer time, I throw on a cool pair of kicks with my jean shorts. These Nike AirForce 1 tan and black mid tops are awesome. They will go with everything in my wardrobe, and they are super comfortable as well. I paired them with my favorite sporty adidas watch and some simple H&M bangles.
It is all about the belt this summer. Whether you go for a western style, like this fun one from Topshop, or a simple black belt, make sure to add it to your list. Just this small accessory added to jean shorts and a sweater can make all the difference! Step out of your comfort zone, and find one that has a cool pattern.
Well, it wouldn’t be a new season without another ten pairs or more of sneakers. Yes my friends, I am a Sneaker Head these days, and I have no problem with it. One of my favorite sites is Sole Collector. They are constantly keeping up with the greatest and coolest collaborations that are coming out. One huge player this month is Nikelab who is releasing three special collaborations on Nike Air Max Day. These will drop on March 26th, and the one above from Marc Newson, a NikeLab industrial designer, has my name all over it. Read the WWD article here to find out more.
For me, it is all about switching it up. Old skool favorites of the past are certainly having a comeback. Adidas has relaunched their Stan Smith and Gazelles better then ever. They definitely feel edgy mixed with ripped jeans and a leather jacket. Most of the companies are seeing that redefining some of the classics is always a good thing.
Another big trend in running shoes, like these Nike kicks, are flecks of iridescent and metallic. From rose gold accents to a full silver shoe, you will be seeing quite a bit of this. Also, sequins has made a comeback, so don’t shy away from that trend. I suggest toning down the rest of your look so the sneaker shines!
I am not one to shy away from wearing the men’s sneakers because I am able to, but a lot of companies, such as Van’s, are now doing unisex shoes. This is great, because their high top skate shoe has long been a favorite of mine. Not to mention you cannot go wrong with their checkered slip on ever.
Converse and Reebok are also making strides by adding fun patterns and lots of pastels to their sneakers. You will also see these two companies bringing back what has worked for years. Don’t be afraid this season to play with something funky, whether it be florals, hearts, fun patterns, or full on Easter egg colors. Whatever look you choose, it will be hard, as you can see my heart is fluttering for all!
