My Style, Weekend whereabouts

Friday stroll in NYC!

I can’t believe that I have literally been in NYC for over six months! Well technically I feel like I am traveling all over for work as well, but calling the Big Apple home has been an unreal experience. This weekend is my last here for a few months, as I am headed back to Cali and Portland for some really cool projects involving the NBA. I also will be spending a chunk of time in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League, so stay tuned for some exciting things there as well.

Two piece from Lulus NYC

I am totally obsessed with this two piece number from Lulu’s. It is bright and cheery, and totally summer appropriate for a brunch here with friends. I simply added a trendy western style belt and fun fringe bag from Lulu’s as well. They always nail such fun and trendy looks, and their price points are amazing. Of course my summer shoe of choice is a worn in Converse Chuck Taylor. They go with me everywhere and are super comfy and cool.

Doing a happy Dance with Like to Know It!

It is here! The new Like to Know it App has launched through the apple store to make shopping that much easier for you. Being a part of this amazing new technology could not be more fun. Their new motto “it all started with a screenshot” says it all. Just download the app to your phone, and simply snap a screenshot of my look across Instagram, Pinterest, or Snapchat. Then you can shop my entire look right there on the spot. I mean could shopping get any easier then this?

Ruffle pants - Like to Know It

This launch deserves a happy dance, and these pants from Zara are right on the money for it. How fun and unique are these black pants? This season try something different than your normal trouser and go for something more wild and carefree. Ruffles, lace, and frills are all the rage, so make sure to find a pair that suits your style.

Bell sleeve blouse - Like to Know It

Bell sleeve and lace up blouses are still trending big for spring and summer, and this cream piece from Lulus’s felt perfect for these pants. My first thought was to go simple on the top, but I wanted to get outside of my comfort level and mix and match the whole look in an unexpected way. I will for sure by wearing this top with my denim skirt when the weather heats up a bit. Not to mention, pick up a trendy and inexpensive timepiece like this one from Urban Outfitters.

Big eclectic earrings - Like to Know It

When it comes to accessories, I love to wear a bold earring from time to time. Right now, eclectic and big earrings are trending hard, and these will make a statement. I usually keep to small posts, so it is fun to add another element to the look. Also, it streamlines the entire outfit, and they are also available at Urban Outfitters for under $25.00!

Pop pom flatforms - Like to Know It

Okay, can we cheer anymore for these pom pom sneakers from Steve Madden? I love that the flatform sneaker is going strong again, and this is a fun way to show your spirit by adding a little flair. Not only are they kind of wild, but they add a hip factor to any outfit you are wearing.

Say it isn’t Spring!

Well, what can I say, is it time to pack up my winter coat and get ready for Spring? The weather has been gorgeous this last week, and it has me lusting for all things fashion. When the sun comes out here in the city, the energy becomes even more alive. There is nothing better then sitting at an outdoor patio working and watching people go by, or hitting a rooftop deck for happy hour cocktails.

denim jumpsuit for spring

On my hit list for the season is a denim jumpsuit. They are one of those items that are not only playful, but they can easily be worn several different ways. This fun striped piece from 7 For All Mankind is just my style. Not only can it be worn on its own, but it looks just as cute layered with a shirt underneath. For the evening, a fun varsity jacket and heels can give it even more attitude.

7 For All Mankind jumpsuit

One of my favorite trends that has carried over from last season is the off the shoulder top. I found this adorable white one at H & M. Not only will I be wearing it with this jumpsuit, but paired with simple jeans and some sneakers, it still has a great sex appeal to it. Don’t forget to pick up a fun hat this season as well. From baseball caps to straw fedoras, this accessory always adds a little punch to any look.

Off the shoulder top

When it comes to shoes, we all know that I love a good sneaker, but a fun trend I am totally digging is the work boot. Yes, the timberland style is back and it is easy to work right into your wardrobe. It looks just perfect with this look and adds a bit of edge when mixed with the feminine blouse and jumper. I would also wear them with my long maxi skirts and blouses as well during the day to mix things up. Also, a simple handbag is all the rage right now. This one from J.Crew has been on my rotation because it isn’t too big to carry around the city.

Maxi Shirts and cool kicks

Maxi skirts mixed with some cool kicks!

For those that know me well, I practically live in maxi skirts and dresses all year long. Don’t get me wrong, I still wear my favorite heels, but usually I like to give it my own spin with a great pair of sneakers. This blue skirt from Alice and Olivia may be one of the best I have found in years. The color is gorgeous and the pleats are perfection.

Pleated maxi skirt

I live in vintage rock tees all the time. In the winter, I love to pair them under a jacket, and pairing it with the unexpected makes if more fun. I came across Madeworn this past week. It is a brand started by the creator of Junk Food Clothing, Blaine Halvorson, who has taken vintage and music apparel to a luxury level.

Denim Knox jacket

Being in New York City, I have certainly fallen in love. One of my favorite denim lines The Rails had me marching to my own beat in this Knox jacket. I mean how cute is the New York logo on the back?

Even better, you can customize your own, which I just did with my name on the back. Check it out below.

Last but certainly not least, is the the adidas Gazelle. This shoe has been around since I can remember, and my first pair were back in the seventh grade. I had a pair of navy blue ones that I wore into the ground. They recently have had a revival, and right away I went out to get a basic pair of black that go with everything. One style tip, is to never be shy of mixing things up. A maxi skirt is more unique with a cool pair of sneakers and a vintage rock tee!

Rose mixed with Valentine’s Day!

All things being said, yes we are still a month out from Valentine’s Day, but when I saw this French color sweatshirt from J.Crew my heart began to flutter. It seems that as soon as January hits, retail stores begin to prepare us for this day, whether it be floods of red dresses or conversation hearts at every market.

French colour sweatshirt for Valentines day

Thanks to J.Crew, they have a ton of great Valentine’s Day ideas for every type of occasion. Shop it all here, as this little tee is also on my favorites list.

Valentine's day tee

I am not a huge red and pink girl, so finding this fun and cute sweatshirt made my day. Not only will I wear it all through the Spring, but mixing it up with denim on denim and adding my Air Force sneakers made if feel more sporty. The silhouette of this jacket is beyond. It feels unique and fresh. Simply paired with dark denim it automatically becomes cool.

Cool denim on denim

I love to add a pop of color in a purse. This bag ,from J.Crew as well, is the perfect size for a day of sightseeing in NYC. I hit the high line in the Meat Packing District in this whole look, it’s located next to The Chelsea Market, one of my favorite places to shop for wine and sweet treats.

Purse with pop of color

Of course, nothing makes shopping easier then being in a comfortable pair of sneakers, so my limited edition Nike Air Force 1 NYC editions from Kith are perfect. Not to mention the little heart and pop of red also are fun for Valentine’s Day.
