New Year’s Eve 2017!

Well, it is almost New Year’s Eve, and that means PARTY TIME! Are you all ready for 2018? I am already stressed and excited for all of the events that are going on in January and February. That being said, I am ready to relax and enjoy New Year’s this year in Los Angeles with my closest friends and family. Last year, I was in New York City, and had the chance to get super dressed up, while the year before that, I attended a concert that was casual. That being said, this year is a party that is not too dressy but festive. For most of us, we usually fall into one of those three categories, fun and hip, dressy, or festive. With less then a week to go, check out my three fun go to looks for the big ball drop, and beyond!

Festive at Home

Party time at home

I love a good house party with friends, and that is exactly what I will be doing this year. My good friends are throwing a festive gathering that is not too dressy, but still makes you want to put something fun on, such as these red slouchy boots from DSW! I live for a long sheer maxi skirt, and this is one that I will certainly wear beyond the ball drop. You can always pair a fun colored boot simply with jeans and a t-shirt as the weather begins to get warmer. As for the maxi skirt, it will be perfect paired with a pretty blouse for an event. To keep it pretty casual, a warm and cozy sweater is the perfect addition. This one is from A.L..C. available at Hiptique.

Cocktail Party Style

Cocotail dress

I love a sexy dress or an on trend jumpsuit combination for a more formal New Year’s Eve party. The lace details of of this Shop Alexis dress are gorgeous, and the fun cut out at the top makes it a little sexy. This line is known for their cool cuts. Also the navy and black combo will work for several other events.

If you want something festive and chic at the same time, a cool metallic jumpsuit is a great pick. This is from Hiptique, and to stay warm a leopard Smythe Jacket keeps it classy. Once again, this jacket is perfect with jeans and a tee. The jumpsuit in the spring on its own with a bright pump will fair for any event!

Fun and Funky

Velvet pants

If you are heading out to a concert or even a sporting event (yes many teams are playing), a cool kick mixed with festive velvet pants will keep you feeling funky and hip. These velvet pants had me at hello. The slit and high-waist are trending, and again, you can wear them in the spring with a denim jacket. I will forever be a fan of a leather moto jacket mixed with a rocker tee anytime of the year. To make it a bit more festive for New Year’s eve, I layered it with a shimmery bodysuit from Lulu’s. This whole outfit could seriously be worn anytime of the year!!!

Rocker tee

HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE EVERYONE, and see you in 2018!!!!

A How to for Black Friday!

Black Friday is easily the biggest shopping day of the year, and we know that keeping up and scoring deals takes some serious effort. If you are planning on picking up the bulk of your gifts on this day, you need some strategic planning! Check out some of my tips below to score big after you have loaded up on too much turkey and pie.

Cool and casual for Black Friday

My casual but cool Black Friday look is a simple adidas sweatshirt and J.Crew cargo pant with some kicks. Hopefully I will still have this smile on my face as I breeze through the day!

Casual outfit

  1. Make sure that you are signed up for your favorite retailers newsletters or easily follow them on social media, as most will be posting all kinds of sales and deals that are going on. Think promo codes and special sale items.
  2. Set that budget. Make a list of who you are shopping for and what you want to spend on each person. Start early so that the items you have in mind are still available in store. If you have to order on-line you still have the time to avoid major shipping charges.
  3. Do your research. Before you hit the ground running, make sure you know what your favorite retailers are offering for Cyber Monday, as you may be able to score even bigger here on deals and sales.
  4. Prioritize. Make sure you map out your day from start to finish, keeping in mind a good place to refuel for lunch. You want to make the most of your time and avoid being in your car longer then needed. Also, shop the back of the store first to avoid the hordes of people. You will function much more efficiently.
  5. Make sure your cell phone is charged. You can redeem coupons and get extra savings while completing purchases. If you have a battery charger make sure to have it on hand.
  6. Read before you buy. Make sure you know what the return policies are, especially during the holidays. Read the fine print and always ask for a gift receipt to ease the process in the event your gift is exchanged or returned.
  7. LAST, but so important, make sure that you dress comfortably. That means comfy denim or leggings, sneakers and a sweater. If you are planning on trying things on, you do not want to be weighted down with things that are hard to take on and off!
