Celebrate the Holidays with BASIC INVITE!

I am so excited to partner up with Basic Invite this season. We all know that I love to throw a good party, and their invitations are my favorite. Not only that, they have the perfect stationery for my branding.

Basic invite is different. They have unlimited colors with instant previews online. That sets them apart from almost any other stationery company. Look how cute my pieces turned out. Not only that, they offer custom samples. They will actually order a printed sample of the actual invitation so you can see it on paper first.

Also, we all know how hard it is to gather addresses, and Basic Invite has an address capturing service. It allows customers to simply share a link on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to request this from friends and families.

Lux looks for Less!

When the holidays come, I have so many fun parties and lots of different outfit changes. I mean who doesn’t? I love to get dressed up this time of year, but I also do not want to spend a fortune on all of my outfits. One thing that I really try to do, is mix and match unique items that can be worn after the season is over as well. Like most of us, I do tend to get fancier then usual, and with that being said, I have some fun ideas to get you from each merry festivity to the next.

Dressed up for the festive parties

Black pants are always on my list each year, because you simply can wear them to everything. They can be dressed up, or down depending on the occasion. Also, I usually wear mine all the way into the first days of spring. This year, I decided to make my look a little more trend forward and went with a pant that has a little funk to it. This pair from Shop Alexis were a splurge. I always allow myself one key splurge a season, and these were them! I also have linked some fun ones that will not break your budget.

Nathan pants from Alexis

If you are going to be trend forward this season, a faux fur needs to be on your list. You can find fun ones from Forever 21 to Nordstrom all under $100 dollars. What I love, is that it can be the centerpiece of your look, or simply a great coat to wear to the event and any fun outdoor activity where you want to be dressier.

Faux fur jacket

A simple white blouse is my go to. I like to have three or four on hand during the season to pair with pants, jeans, or skirts. Find a fun one that has a ruffle or embellishment to make it a little more festive and fun. My picks from Nordstrom are below, and again, they are all under $100 dollars.

White ruffle blouse

Last, kick up you sneakers, and go for some fun velvet. This trend is huge for the holidays, and if you are afraid to try it, find an accessory, like this shoe from Express.  Again, you can wear them with jeans, dresses, skirts, and even into the spring!

Mad for holiday plaid!

Well it is official, I am hosting my first holiday party in a newly renovated condo. Which, I am about to move out of to head to the blistering cold in NYC for a few months. Every year my girlfriends get together for a fun gift exchange with endless sweet treats and wine. This holiday season J.Crew has created a beautiful and fun collection filled with festive plaid. I took one look at this whole look and new it would be the perfect look for the party.

plaid ruffled top

There is no shortage of fun plaid shirts, pants, and even pajamas, but this silk ruffled top caught my eye. I love the details, it feels festive, and very on trend. I can already picture it with my leather pants for another occasion.

Also, besides my love of sneakers, you can usually find me in a long maxi skirt. How amazing is this wool flannel collection piece. Once January comes, my tan boots and chunky sweaters will mix right in with it. Did I mention this is a piece that will always be in style.

tortoise and daisy necklace

Another thing that I love to do is add a bold accessory to a holiday look. This tortoise and daisy necklace is gorgeous and fun. J.Crew always makes beautiful accessories, and tortoise shell is back on trend. I had trouble picking out just one!

block heels at Hiptique

The block heel is my favorite right now, and these from Hiptique are not only comfortable but totally on trend.

Style Guide, Your Style

It is Ugly Sweater Time!

I love the holidays, and this year not only did the NBA bring back their ugly holiday sweaters, but the NFL and other retailers have followed suit. I know we all love to get dressed up and have fun over the holidays, but one fun trend is happening now and that is the age old ugly sweater party. I have received a few fun casual party invites where this is required, and I will definitely be rocking the Dallas Mavericks sweater. Even if you don’t have one, sporting this look during all the holiday madness is a fun way to get into the spirit!
