Well, the holidays are here, and if you are like me, that means planes, planes, and automobiles. I am off today for Las Vegas, then taking off again on Wednesday for an NBA game, and will be flying back on turkey day, followed by a turnaround right back to Los Angeles on Friday. Yes, this is the time that traveling can be super stressful on us, but I am here to give you my simple tips to stay sane all the way through Jan. 1st!
My number one for traveling is being comfortable, cozy, but yet fashionable. Let me be honest, I love my sweats, but for the plane, I like to make sure that I feel put together. You never know who you are going to meet. For me, I am all about a great sweater like this one from Smythe, available at Hiptique. It is soft, and also keeps me warm on the flight.
My favorite travel sweaters are below.
I also like to wear a simple pant or legging with a pair of sneakers. I hate having to take off too many layers in security, and sometimes boots are hard to get on and off. Also, I always try to keep my bags to a carry on, and then bring a second tote that I can store my computer in. I know that can be hard with bulky pieces, but if you color coordinate your wardrobe it makes it easy to get through a weekend with just a few pieces. I am obsessed with the Boat and Tote from L.L. Bean, and I have linked a few other of my favorites that have a ton of room!
Last, my skin takes the biggest hit when I travel, even if it is just a quick flight, so I always bring a few items that I know will keep me hydrated. Also, a huge water is always in hand and some great snacks that will keep me from eating anything bad at the airport bar or in flight. I love simple packs of nuts and a good protein bar. I try not to drink alcohol on a flight, as it dehydrates me more. I live for the following products when I am flying.
CHEERS TO SAFE TRAVELS THROUGH THE HOLIDAY SEASON!
Well it is official, I am hosting my first holiday party in a newly renovated condo. Which, I am about to move out of to head to the blistering cold in NYC for a few months. Every year my girlfriends get together for a fun gift exchange with endless sweet treats and wine. This holiday season J.Crew has created a beautiful and fun collection filled with festive plaid. I took one look at this whole look and new it would be the perfect look for the party.
There is no shortage of fun plaid shirts, pants, and even pajamas, but this silk ruffled top caught my eye. I love the details, it feels festive, and very on trend. I can already picture it with my leather pants for another occasion.
Also, besides my love of sneakers, you can usually find me in a long maxi skirt. How amazing is this wool flannel collection piece. Once January comes, my tan boots and chunky sweaters will mix right in with it. Did I mention this is a piece that will always be in style.
Another thing that I love to do is add a bold accessory to a holiday look. This tortoise and daisy necklace is gorgeous and fun. J.Crew always makes beautiful accessories, and tortoise shell is back on trend. I had trouble picking out just one!
The block heel is my favorite right now, and these from Hiptique are not only comfortable but totally on trend.
It is that time of year when I have so many parties it is hard to keep track. For me, I am usually running from one party to the next, so I like to find a holiday look that works for both the day and night. This week alone, I have a work party in the day, a fun holiday cookie event in the evening, and the annual holiday walk and fireworks show in Manhattan Beach.
These pants from Lulu’s are perfect for the holidays. Not only do they scream fun with their wide legs and fun slits, the color is spot on for any celebration. Not only will they go great with a chunky sweater, but I will wear them with a black pump and a fun bodysuit for a fancier event.
Can we say that velvet is the trend of the season? I took one look at these Steve Madden boots and new that I had to have them. I have always been a fan of over the knee boots in the winter. The texture of these makes the whole look feel even more festive.
I tend to live in chunky sweaters during the winter. Every year Express has some of my favorites. I love the color of this one, and as the weather transitions it will look gorgeous with a pair of white jeans. Mixing up the light rose with the darker burgundy makes the look pop even more.
Let the countdown begin to 2016. If you are like most of us, we have waited until the last minute to decide on an outfit plan. For this reason alone, I am thankful for accessories and handbags that will push me right into the party spirit.
If you have the time, party shoes and bags are a big trend right now, so hit up a local mall and grab something festive. If you just want a small added touch, hit a local store for a 2016 party hat or some fun shades to have on hand during the countdown!
I love when you stumble across a fantastic article of clothing for the holidays that can transition from day to night very easily! This fun sequin top from Tart Collection does just that.
For me, there are many days that I am attending a daytime work function and have to transition right to an evening cocktail event. Sequins tops are on trend right now, so keep your eye out, and follow my style guidelines below. Cheers!
For night I love this trendy red suede skirt and fun fur bag to add a bit of flair. If you are on the more conservative side, pair it with a pant and add a fun printed trendy clutch. Round out both looks with a unique earring such as the cluster pair below.
