How is the holiday season already here? I mean, it just seemed like yesterday was the Fourth of July. That being said, like most of us, this time of year is one of my favorites. I yearn for nights sitting in front of the fire in my cozy sweats, drinking hot cocoa with my family and friends. There are so many holiday events around this time, that when I don’t have to be dressed up, I love to wear sweat pants that can transition from the couch to real life. One of my favorite brands that I have found is Sundry. Their pieces are always fun, trendy, and super comfy. These starry sweats just put me in the holiday mood, and make a great gift for the females in your life.
Here in Cali, the weather never dips too low, but in the morning a good sweater and beanie are easy for a coffee run. I can walk to my local shop, so this cool mesh sweatshirt I found at a thrift store is totally my style. Any old piece will work over this tee and bottom combination. I have beanies in every flavor, and I usually just pick them up at Nordstrom in their Brass Blum section for under $25.00!
One of the things that I love about this look is that it screams casual and fun. Basically it is the I rolled out of bed looking cool look. For me this works while I run errands and for when I just want to sit on the couch. My rule of thumb is to put a cool pair of kicks with the whole look to bring it all together.
These Vans are a shiny happy patent leather. I mean look at that smile, which may really be because I get to finally take a breather and spend some time relaxing. These kicks are great, because not only are they super casual, they will take me right into the spring as well. I know it is hard to wrap your mind around that, but I am already thinking of cute denim shorts and a tee with these. Hopefully they will stay clean enough the next few months!
Cheers to the beginning of an amazing and cozy holiday season. Check out my favorite cute and casual sweats that will make everyone’s season merry and bright!
Hello Venice Beach vibes. Once in awhile I come across an outfit that is so me I want to dance around for days. As most of you know, I am not a big dress and skirt girl, and when it comes to going out at night, I live in cool pants and tees. Every so often a piece comes my way that stops me in my tracks, and that my friends, are these A.L.C. shorts from Shopbop. I know some people may ask why, but in person they are just oh so cool. They’re chic, yet comfy, cool girl and beach girl at the same time. In the winter I will throw on a fun sweater and my little booties and make them a bit more edgy.
There is never anything wrong with a simple white tee, and I have way too many. I find at night, that they end up looking so easy and chic with just about anything. This tee is also from A.L.C. and it hangs just perfectly. It is a tad more on the expensive side, but I find that the investment is well worth it.
Two of my favorite go to lines here in Cali are Sundry and Soludos. Sundry makes the most fun bits and pieces with the cutest sayings on them, hence my favorite so far “locals only”. If you haven’t worn a pair of Soludos espadrilles yet you are missing out. They too have so many fun designs to just kick up a vacation outfit anytime.
There is a lot of color and print here, so I simply just added a few of my favorite stackable bracelets from Gorjana. I cannot wait to wear this look over and over, as the whole vibe screams Cali to me, and I couldn’t be more excited!
I couldn’t be more excited to let you all know that my favorite store Hiptique has opened up a beautiful space in Malibu. This space is a true lifestyle boutique with clothing, intimates, swim, jewelry, giftables and home decor in Santa Monica and Malibu, California. All of the decor and clothing is curated and chosen carefully for women who live, work & play at the beach. I was lucky enough to meet their wonderful owner a few years back, and she and I have built a solid friendship on fashion and sports. As a blogger, I love pulling pieces from her store all year around, as it has my vibes all over it.
This year, you will see a lot of great new lines as she launches on-line, and I will be wearing a ton of it. This past week I had family in town and we spent a ton of time at the beach, so I made sure to head over for a new swimsuit. Of course the boutique is stocked with two of my favorite swim labels, Boys and Arrows and L Space. I have been loving one piece swim this year, when I saw this cute owl print with the amazing halter back I had to have it.
Denim shorts are my go to all summer, and his fun pair has a little detailing to set them apart. Mcguire denim makes the best jeans, and now I am a huge fan of their shorts as well.
When it comes to bags, a fun straw bag like this one from Misa is totally great for the beach and travel. They always are on trend, and they can carry a ton. I added their cute pompom details for some added fun to the look. Some simple shades and Haviana sandals from Nordstrom completed my look.
Check out the fun store shots below, and make your way over to Hiptique.
Well it is official, I am hosting my first holiday party in a newly renovated condo. Which, I am about to move out of to head to the blistering cold in NYC for a few months. Every year my girlfriends get together for a fun gift exchange with endless sweet treats and wine. This holiday season J.Crew has created a beautiful and fun collection filled with festive plaid. I took one look at this whole look and new it would be the perfect look for the party.
There is no shortage of fun plaid shirts, pants, and even pajamas, but this silk ruffled top caught my eye. I love the details, it feels festive, and very on trend. I can already picture it with my leather pants for another occasion.
Also, besides my love of sneakers, you can usually find me in a long maxi skirt. How amazing is this wool flannel collection piece. Once January comes, my tan boots and chunky sweaters will mix right in with it. Did I mention this is a piece that will always be in style.
Another thing that I love to do is add a bold accessory to a holiday look. This tortoise and daisy necklace is gorgeous and fun. J.Crew always makes beautiful accessories, and tortoise shell is back on trend. I had trouble picking out just one!
The block heel is my favorite right now, and these from Hiptique are not only comfortable but totally on trend.
This past Wednesday night, I was invited to an intimate dinner at my favorite boutique Hiptique. The store partnered up with One Nine Design to gather a group of entrepreneurial women in the industry for a night of mingling and talking business.
One Nine Design, founded by Stephanie Kimes, is an experiential design and production company. They curate experiences and bring ideas to life, and with this she has brought her own idea of the OND Social Series to life. It will be a monthly Los Angeles based event bringing women together to make contacts and gather cool ideas. Wednesday night did not disappoint, from the food to the DJ, and of course the shopping. All among 19 women who have created their own business.
On Tuesday, I offered the store my stylist experience, to dress the mannequins. I also did some fun personal shopping before the dinner with all of the women. Part of what I do for a living is personal shopping, and being able to offer advice to women in all sorts of business fields always makes me happy. Also using my creativity to do some fun window displays for fall was quite fun.
