Wow, Memorial Day is just a week away, and I can hardly believe it. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the holidays. Like everyone else, I am so looking forward to summer days, full of sun, fun, and of course cute outfits. As always, my favorite boutique Hiptique has gotten several pieces in that are adorable, and I am quite frankly obsessed with! Make sure you head to my Fame Store to shop all of these looks plus so many more coming your way this summer. What else do you guys want to see trend wise?
Can we talk about printed pants mixed with a fun logo tee. This is one of my staple looks in the summer. I love to take pieces that you would not expect to go together and make them work. These floral pants from Parker are so on trend with their wide legs and fun tie waist, and the pajama style pant like this striped pair from Fame, are still big this season. A simple fun tee, elevates the look. I am loving this line Paradised, it is for sure a new favorite. Don’t forget to add some oversized mirrored shades like these from Quay Australia.
When it comes to my summer kicks, I love Vans. This pair is literally on fire. If you want to try something different, go for a pastel sneaker like these from Filling Pieces. I still love a good chunky rubber sole right now.
We all know I love a good dress in the summer. I have literally fallen in love with Karina Grimaldi. This line has so many beautiful dresses that are just my style. I love a fun dress with a bit of sex appeal like this cut out piece above. An on trend hat from Van Palma makes the look so much more Venice beach babe. For a night out, and certainly vacation, this high low dress is simply gorgeous. A flat sandal for a casual beach dinner or a wedge for a night out is the perfect addition. I love adding a fun pendant necklace for an added edge.
I do not know what happens to me during this time of the year, but my love for fashion comes out, and I become way experimental. The weather certainly helps, as we all have a little more pep in our step once winter is over. I have always been a big sneaker girl, of course, and hats come in a close second. Whether it is a ball cap, beach hat, or a trending driver hat, I have no shortage in my closet.
Festival season is here, and Coachella, summer concerts, and Stagecoach are around the corner. I love a good concert and go to plenty in the summer. My favorite is the pier concert right here in Santa Monica. Enjoying music and kicking it with friends, and a hat like this fun one from Hiptique is a must.
When it comes to casual but cool dressing, a light cotton twill pant like these from Rebecca Taylor are perfect. They are high waisted and go with everything from a dressy blouse, to a tee. I also love pairing them with a simple flip flop on the go.
It is all about the details this season. I love a pretty blouse, again this is from Rebecca Taylor. What makes it so unique is the small bit of ruffle detail. This is perfect for an evening out or a nice work meeting.
Last season I invested in a lace-up Sam Edelman that had a small chunky heel, and it is safe to say they are still trending. Find a pair like these, they are so comfortable and add a bit of funk to any look!
Well, when I have to dress up and go to a cocktail event, I always prefer a long maxi dress. One of my favorite things to do is find a dress that has an open back. There is something about this look to me that screams elegant yet sexy at the same time. When I saw this dress from Hiptique, I knew it was a must have for the summer. I have several events coming up, and this will fit nicely for many of them.
Another big factor for me is also comfort. I mean dancing five hours at a wedding is never fun in a super tight dress, am I right? Also, when going with a maxi, you can wear a dressy flat, which for me is always my preference for a long night.
The front of this dress is just as chic. I love the v-neck, and there is enough coverage that it will fit any body type without showing off too much. The lines of the dress are fun and unique, and the color will carry you through any season. Is it nuts that I am already seeing this next fall with a jacket?
A huge trend for spring are layered necklaces like this one that I found at Lulus. Even though the print is a lot, you can still add layered jewelry and make it all come together. Do not be afraid to branch out and try this trend.
Also, the beach behind me is all I am craving after a few crazy weeks of work. Summer time please come quick, am I right?
So there is something about knowing I have two very different weddings in the next few months. One is happening down in Mexico, that has a fun casual vibe, and one is a very fashion forward event. So what do I do to mix it up and feel cool in both places? I headed to Hiptique because they are my one stop shop for all thing fancy and casual. I mean their bathing suit selection is another story….but that is coming next month.
Let me start with being fashion forward, because that is not in my total comfort zone. This jumpsuit is pretty much amazing, and from one of my favorite lines Michelle Mason. For me, it is about making a bit more masculine by adding a blouse under it.
Also, if I am going fashion forward, the hair in a big bun does the trick, I mean I actually feel really high fashion!
And now to my comfort zone, which means a wedding in Mexico that screams for a long dress.
This is me, mid dance having a blast, and realizing I can dance the night away in this floral dress from Harshman. Not to mention my normal go to is a messy braid that will last all night long!
Also, the back of this dress is totally my style, and guess what, this girl can get away with some converse chucks with it. But…yes, even if I have a fashion forward wedding, at the end of the night I am putting on some Nike Cortez kicks, like the ones from Maria Sharapova!
So it is that time of the year when I have several brunches, showers, and dressier events that are coming up. I love to keep it casual cool, with pieces that can go either way. When you invest in a few key pieces, you certainly can mix and match them throughout the season. I fell in love with these pants from Hiptique by the label CAMI. If there ever were a pant that screamed my name, these would be it. They are high-waisted, feel like butter, and can be paired for a night out or a casual day with a sweater and kicks.
This label also makes a killer silk bodysuit, which are my new go to. This whole looks is perfect for a dressy event, and pairing a cool bandana scarf with it makes it even more on trend. What I love about this top, is it looks just as cool with distressed denim and a trendy belt.
These white boots were made for walking, and dancing. I cannot believe that I never thought I could pull these off, and have worn them more then any other boot in my closet! It is not too late to invest, and this pair from Jessica Simpson, available at Nordstrom are going to be just as killer with some shorts this season.
I am in love with little two piece numbers that go together as a dressier piece, and can be super casual on their own. Lisa Marie Fernandez makes some killer bathing suits, and her new line of clothing is just as cool. Definitely invest in an off the shoulder top this season, and pair it with denim and skirts like I did here. I also will be paring that bodysuit above with this skirt and either kicks or some cool heels.
I love any type of woven bag for spring/summer. This piece from L Space Swim available at Hiptique as well, is the perfect size. I take it out to brunches, to the beach, and also while shopping the local farmers market. It is definitely vacation approved as well! Cheers to spring and the time of year when I really feel like you can take so many key pieces through the summer and mix them up however you choose.
