As the NBA gears up for a new season, the league is in the midst of lots of young players making their own fashion statements against the veterans. This year, the kids will complete the uprising. Leading the charge of course is Russell Westbrook, who graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated fashion issue. Not far behind him are some young stars, like these four pictured above, Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, Brandon Ingram, and Julius Randle.
As we know the worlds of fashion and sports are interconnected. From athletes launching fashion lines to celebrities serving as the face of athletic brands, we are seeing endless crossover. Basketball stars know how to get our attention! Aside from them being superstars in the game, they captivate us with their swag from game to game. From statement making suits, to signature sneaks, they are leading the trends on fashion conversation. As the two worlds collide, the NBA season becomes its own runway show with more fun fashion then I can take. I mean I am already dreaming up who is going to be the best dressed over All-Star weekend here in Los Angeles. Are you ready for the season and the endless fashion excitement?
Here are my fashion favorites below, including some new young talent and those veterans with swag.
Well it is official, I have made the move into Tribeca, and I couldn’t be more excited about the neighborhood. One thing that has been hard for me, is missing my long beach runs. Being down in this part of the city, not only do I have Chelsea Piers to hit, but the West Side Highway runs along the Hudson, and the view is gorgeous! You can run all the way to Central Park if you should choose (too bad I am not that in shape).
The weather was mild last week, so I chose to ditch the gym and get moving outside instead. I just ordered these Adidas Tubular Viral Knit Sneakers for cross training, and they couldn’t be more comfortable. I love that they almost look lavender in the light, the perfect color for Spring. I’ll also be wearing them with jeans and a white tee as I stroll the city.
I have been obsessed with green lately, in all shades, and these Nike work-out pants are a great shade. I like the logo on the side of the leg, and you will be seeing lots of athletic tights with fun sayings this season. There are a range of fun colors and patterns from all the major athletic companies, and as we all know, I usually keep my workout clothes on to run errands, so I have a feeling my collection is going to grow.
I love mixing up shades of green with pink, so I simply added my favorite Herschel backpack from Nordstrom. It is the perfect size to carry to the gym with me, and I love the baby pink color. Also, when biking around the city, it is not too big that I will feel weighed down. In Cali, carrying a large tote was much easier, but I like having the option of a backpack so I don’t feel lopsided when I will be walking for longer periods.
Now can we talk about Ivy Park? This fun athletic line from Beyonce is killing it for me! Her designs are not only super cool, but the quality is perfect. This jacket is just light enough that I can wear it on my run, and lets be real it is super hip. Her line merges fashion forward design with technical innovation to create a new type of performance wear. I can’t wait to see what she has in store next season!
