Well, the weather is finally turning and the heat is rising here in NYC. I am lusting after a trip to the beach, and it looks like June may be the time to head back to Cali for a visit. One of my favorite t-shirt lines is Sundry Clothing. They always have the cutest tees that scream happiness on them. When I found this one, I immediately knew I needed to buy it. I love the ringer collar, as it certainly gives it a great 70’s vibe.
Not only that, but these jeans from 7 for all Mankind are kind of off the charts. I am super into anything high-waisted this season, and the slits at the leg are fun and definitely set them apart from any pair that I have. If you are looking for something different this season, these are certainly it. I simply paired them with my favorite Vans sneakers for a full Cali look.
I usually don’t wear a ton of red, but when I find it in an accessory I certainly will go for it. This cross body bag from Topshop is affordable and the perfect pop of color this outfit needed. The size is great too, it is just big enough to hold everything I need for a night out. I am also into layering as many bangles and bracelets as I can these days. A simple rule of thumb, more is better, and you can mix them anyway that you like.
There is no shortage of great denim for Spring, and some of my favorite jeans are below! Make sure you add a white pair this season!
There is a change on the denim scene, and it has me smiling. Think faded, frayed, embroidered and pastel. Last season we began to see designers definitely branching out from the skinny distressed jean and the wide leg that had been trending for awhile. Whether you go big or take the trend to a scaled down level, trying one is key for the season.
I am all about the wild frayed bottom. It screams fun, and you can make them dressy with heels, sporty with a sneaker, or even preppy like I did here with my favorite Chanel bag and J.Crew boat shoes. This pair from Topshop is great because they are under $100, and when it comes to major trends, I like to buy things that are a steal!
You are also going to see all kinds of fun embroidered jeans, especially floral prints. Like they say, we are all ready for the May flowers after a long month of showers. Whether you do them simple down one side, or find a distressed pair with lots of fun floral print, go ahead and give it a try. I like to keep my top basic to focus on the embroidery.
Make it light and pretty. Pastels are a huge trend this season. I have already purchased several pairs in sneakers of course! If you don’t want to get too crazy on a new pair of jeans, my advice is to invest in a clean light colored pair. I love the idea of a baby pink or soft green denim. They will look perfect for day with a simple jean jacket, and at night a soft romantic blouse.
Faded denim is here to stay. The days of simple dark wash ankle jeans, are taking a backseat to more of a rocker feel. Whether you go for a boyfriend fit, ripped and distressed, or a crop wide leg one, have fun with this trend. Again, I suggest getting a fun pair that don’t break the bank, and make sure to add some cool shades and put some cool factor in your step.
This Fall, the huge selection of denim styles may include the best styles you’ve seen in a while. From the tried-and-true favorites to the high fashion trends, the washes and treatments are next level and also very wearable. Set your sights on a new pair with a style and fit that hugs you in all the right places. Don’t be afraid to jump out of your comfort zone a bit with patchwork or fun embroidery.
I am still loving all things high-waisted and 70’s inspired like this Mcguire denim pair available at Hiptique. I will be wearing them with all of my bodysuits and layering up for fall with a great jacket.
This year anything goes, and we are seeing all kinds of fun shapes with denim. From the continuation of the boyfriend jean to the new style of crop, choose a pair that will flatter your figure and take you a bit out of your element. Patches are back, as seen on jean jackets and shorts so have a little fun. Don’t be afraid to try a romper as well to put some spring in your step!
