Well if it isn’t the heat of summer again! The weather has been gorgeous, and that calls for light and easy dresses for the day. I love finding pieces that have some volume and can easily transition from day to night. One of my favorite stores to shop for pieces on sale is Club Monaco. They always have the cutest rompers and dresses in the summer, and for some reason I always score on their sales. I had a fun event this past Saturday and this Rhodas Dress was just perfect. I love that it is on trend being off the shoulder with the fun bell sleeves.
The details of this dress show off my neckline, and right now I am wearing hoop earrings all over again. I found these fun ones at Nordstrom. I just simply layered some bangles and was all set. These can be found at J.Crew.
For the event, I wore a simple heel, but running around in this dress up here in Venice Beach, I just threw on my clean white Chuck Taylors. There is something so simple about a clean white sneaker in the summer with just about everything I own. I also found this cute little handbag from the B.P. section of Nordstrom. Not only is it the perfect size to hold my cell and credit cards, it was only $25.00!
Cheers to summer, and shop all of my other favorite sale items from Club Monaco below!
Well, it wouldn’t be a new season without another ten pairs or more of sneakers. Yes my friends, I am a Sneaker Head these days, and I have no problem with it. One of my favorite sites is Sole Collector. They are constantly keeping up with the greatest and coolest collaborations that are coming out. One huge player this month is Nikelab who is releasing three special collaborations on Nike Air Max Day. These will drop on March 26th, and the one above from Marc Newson, a NikeLab industrial designer, has my name all over it. Read the WWD article here to find out more.
For me, it is all about switching it up. Old skool favorites of the past are certainly having a comeback. Adidas has relaunched their Stan Smith and Gazelles better then ever. They definitely feel edgy mixed with ripped jeans and a leather jacket. Most of the companies are seeing that redefining some of the classics is always a good thing.
Another big trend in running shoes, like these Nike kicks, are flecks of iridescent and metallic. From rose gold accents to a full silver shoe, you will be seeing quite a bit of this. Also, sequins has made a comeback, so don’t shy away from that trend. I suggest toning down the rest of your look so the sneaker shines!
I am not one to shy away from wearing the men’s sneakers because I am able to, but a lot of companies, such as Van’s, are now doing unisex shoes. This is great, because their high top skate shoe has long been a favorite of mine. Not to mention you cannot go wrong with their checkered slip on ever.
Converse and Reebok are also making strides by adding fun patterns and lots of pastels to their sneakers. You will also see these two companies bringing back what has worked for years. Don’t be afraid this season to play with something funky, whether it be florals, hearts, fun patterns, or full on Easter egg colors. Whatever look you choose, it will be hard, as you can see my heart is fluttering for all!
We have all seen the evolution of the sneaker. Not only do I love my new Nike Huarache’s above for running, but I also live in them in my daily life. As a stylist, I am on set or shopping several days a week, and sneakers are the most comfortable for a long day.
Every season I try to purchase a fun pair of limited edition or basketball kicks, as well as a cool pair that transition from a workout to my daily life. Think outside of the box and throw on a pair not only with skinny jeans a chunky sweater, but try a long maxi skirt and a denim jacket to mix it up.
