cinq à sept sank·ah·set sæŋk’eɪ’set n : The time between late afternoon and early evening when streets are awash in the warm glow of the vanishing sun and anything is possible
A clothing line that shares a name with one of my favorite French terms just makes me happy. When I first came across this line about a season ago, I knew I was going to continue to be drawn to it. Cinq à Sept is easy and sophisticated, as it is playful with an allure of confidence. The collection’s modern feminine aesthetic embraces unexpected detail and shape, resulting in pieces that draw their romance and sexiness from the woman wearing them. I knew from the moment that I saw this silk bomber, it was perfect not only for NYFW, but Valentine’s Day as well.
This dress just nailed it. I am not a huge fan of ruffles when they are overwhelming, but the gorgeous detail in this silk dress was spot on. Again, it mixes sexiness and a bit of edge with that romance we all want. Paired with the bomber, the whole outfit was perfection. For date night, I will certainly be putting on a heel, but for NYFW it was perfect with my favorite Nike sneakers.
Speaking of NYFW A/W 2017, their collection was divine.
Cinq à Sept founder Jane Siskin, trusts that her customers are ready for a gutsier approach then some of the other contemporary labels. Her m.o. is to dress them for “special moments,” not everyday drudgery—so why play it safe? With old-world interiors and the ’40s, the shoe opened with a chocolate and turquoise velvet damask coat with fur cuffs. It may not be for everyone, but the girls who love it will really love it.
