Wow, this past week has been a whirlwind. I have been so lucky to team up with Hiptique on a fun project, Sneakerlab, Nice Kicks, and Nike! I feel like I was all over running to events, but through it all, I am realizing how blessed and fun it is to work in a field that I absolutely love. I also got to catch up with shop owner Jeremy Moore of Eighty Five Eighty Six to chat top trends.
The week started shooting a project with Hiptique, and these sequins pants are so fun for fall. If I am not wearing sneakers, the cool girl loafer trend is definitely my style as well. How cute are these from Sam Edelman?
Of course we shot most of the looks in this fun sweatshirt from Sundry and these camo joggers from Cami NYC. I have been living in these, and I simply paired them with my favorite Nike Air Max kicks.
The following day we shot at Eighty Five Eighty Six with Jeremy Moore. He actually got me into this Fila leggings for fall, and I love literally wearing them with the matching crop top and Jordans.
Thursday night and Friday it was all about Nice Kicks x Sneakerlab, and the Vogue x Nice Kicks event.
Both events were so fun, and seeing the Jordan that Anna Wintour did with Vogue was so cool!
Yes it is the winter, and yes I am on a pastel sneaker kick right now! This time last year, I was buried under the snow in NYC wearing my snow boots and rain boots all over the city. I do admit, we have had our fair share of winter days in Cali, but really, we can usually wear sneakers year around. To switch it up, I love to find fun and girly athleisure pieces, and right now we are seeing a big trend of pastel sneakers. This I am totally okay with, that small pop of mint or pink makes me smile, and pulling a whole look together just feels happy at this time of the year.
First things first, these Nike Air Max 95 LX kicks are just really dope. I found them at the NIKE X Nordstrom pop up, and they are quickly becoming one of my new favorite sneakers yet. You know that you have found a gem when you get stopped on the street frequently with these on. My birthday is coming up, and I am contemplating wearing them out dancing! Thoughts? As we all know, throwing on a baseball hat is easy for me, and this two tone denim number from Nordstrom feels so 90’s to me.
I have kind of been living in sweatshirts because this cool girl trend makes me feel like it is totally okay. Whether it be from adidas or Nike with a logo, or just easy and plain like this piece from Topshop they are fully on trend. Again, in the spring it will be perfect with my denim shorts and these same kicks.
I am quickly becoming a big fan of changing my leggings from plain jane to having logos or a fun print all over them. These Nike joggers from Macy’s are not only super comfortable, but are kinda just perfect for lounging around the house at night as well. For errands, we know I cannot deal with a big bag half of the time, and this cute and simple gold purse from Nordstrom is under $30 and looks just as great with a little black dress.
Now go out and find a pair of pastel kicks that you love, my recommendations are below!
Well it wouldn’t be fall if I didn’t already want every pair of sneakers that are being dropped right now. We all know that I love me some Jordan’s anytime of the year, and I just decided to grab these classic Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG. The other Jordan that I want to add asap to my collection is the new Jordan Westbrook 0.2 sneaker. I love the navy blue suede color, and just like his logo “why not”!
If you want something fun and girly, the new Nike Air Max 1, just released, is pretty in pink. I love the mix of tan with the white sole and pink glaze. It is perfect for a fun twist on this classic shoe.
If you are a fan of the Rihanna line for Puma, her new cleated creeper is coming soon. Derived from her original model this cleated creeper has a double cleat style sole. It will be available in both brown and black.
Another fun collaboration is with Adidas and Hender Scheme for a luxury pair of Originals. The two have teamed up to reimagine three silhouettes with a more luxurious feel. The whole collection is hand crafted in Tokoyo.
The other Adidas collaboration that I need to get my hands on is the Stan Smith and Pharrell sneaker. This musician and designer is remixing aesthetic elements of the Stan Smith with his bold classic the Tennis Hu. It combines a court shoe with a runner in a sock-like construction.
Athleisure is on trend, and lets be real it is here to stay! Of course this makes me so happy as it it totally my vibe. I love to mix up workout gear with cool and edgy pieces to really nail the trend. Wide leg crop pants are in this season, and these faux leather ones from Topshop are both edgy and fun. I will wear them with a heel and a great blouse, but they are even cooler with a fun top like this adidas crop.
As you know, I am a total fan of leopard print anything, and when H&M made a ball cap in this design it was all mine. Look for fun patterns all over in caps this season. From floral prints, leather, and suede, it is a big trend. The bolder the print, the more fun you can make an outfit.
Reebok and Adidas, who are under the same umbrella now, are making more and more fun sneakers and watches. This metallic pair almost looks like an orange sorbet in person, making them totally different then anything I have. This camo Adidas watch is not only different, but it is unique enough that you can wear it with a great dress to mix up a look.
What I love about this look, is that it is super comfortable. I love that the pants are easy to sit in.The crop top is totally comfy and cozy for the spring weather, since it is not yet totally warm here in NYC. Again, these shoes are like walking on air, and I can go all day in them.
Kiss my Airs! If you have some free time, head over to Nike iD and look at all their cool totes and pieces that you can make on your own. I love to carry a fun bag to the grocery store or farmers market. I was lucky enough to attend the Nike Air Max event in NYC, where I custom designed this fun piece. It is playful and fun, and that makes me always put a little more pep in my step!
