NBA Sideline Style with Rebecca Haarlow

I am so excited for my talented friend who will be reporting all year with the New York Knicks. Not only has she done major NBA games with several teams, you have probably seen her reporting for both NFL and college football. Check her out this season, as she steps up her game with this amazing organization.

Congrats on your new position with the Knicks! Tell me a little bit about what makes this organization so special.

I feel incredibly honored to broadcast Knicks games because it’s a team with so much history and Madison Square Garden is a magical place with incredible fans. The organization has been incredibly welcoming from MSG Networks to the team.

You just made the move to New York but have been in many cities with different NBA teams, how will you court side style differ being in a fashion forward city?

Clyde Frazier, Knicks legend and analyst on our broadcasts has been a New York style icon for decades. I’m going to have to step up my game! New York is a very chic city with a plethora of talented designers. I’m excited to find new labels I’ve never seen before.

The players have also become their own Fashion staples, any players on the team that really like to make a statement?

Carmelo Anthony is very GQ these days and Sasha Vujacic brings a tailored European vibe. I was talking to Carmelo about fashion the other day actually; he said he used to be against the NBA dress code, but now he’s for it. That dressing up for games is another opportunity to be professional in the workplace.

You will be doing every game with the Knicks how do you keep changing your style with so many games?

It’s hard to keep it fresh for 82 games! For me it’s all about comfort, a few staple pieces, and a statement shoe or accessory. You can make the perfect LBD look completely different from one night to the next by switching from boots to wedges or gold to silver accents. But ultimately shoes are key. If they aren’t comfortable enough to run from one side of the arena to the other, I’m onto the next pair. Right now Prada dominates my shoe closet; the line is comfy and pretty at the same time.

What are some of your favorite designers for on camera?

Anyone who makes a flattering jumpsuit! Is there anything more chic and comfortable at the same time that doesn’t take up too much room in the suitcase? I also love Dover Gray. The line launched last spring and they make the most flattering tops that fit perfectly under Blazers.
